Set the mood with colored lighting at your wedding

wedding lighting, weddings, outdoor weddingsIf you’re looking for ways to jazz up your wedding this year, consider bringing in a lighting company.  If you’re having a winter wedding, maybe a blue shade to give it that “ice” look is all it needs.  Perhaps you don’t completely love the color of the walls on the hotel room, lighting can help make the place look luxurious.   Even if it’s an outdoor wedding, lighting can still make your night.  There’s lot of places to look for ideas, one place we found to find ideas is the Social Design Event Blog.

Have some cool lighting pics?  Post comments with the links or actual images.

    Fall Wedding Cake Accessories

wedding cakes, wedding cake, fall wedding, fall wedding cakes, fall wedding cake
Your fall wedding may just call for a fall wedding cake! Themed cakes have become more popular in the last few years, and seasons offer a great way to make your wedding cake unique. And while you may want your wedding cake to have a more traditional taste, you can still give it a fall accent. Consider the following ideas:

    • Silk leaves in autumn colors scattered on and around your cake help to carry the fall theme.
    • Group small, ornamental squash and pumpkins around the base of your cake and scatter them around the tables.
    • Leaves created from sugar also make great cake accessories. What’s the best part? They’re edible, too!
    • Combine the colors of fall, from leaves to ornamental squash, with the colors of a variety of fruit. Just before the reception, add clusters of blueberries and strawberries, sliced oranges, and a scattering of macadamia nuts for a unique twist.

Great new resource to help choose your wedding songs

WeddingWire just launched their new Wedding Songs database for users to search through ideas for their wedding music. Songs are broken out into categories, but more importantly songs include direct links to iTunes and Amazon to listen to clips right from your computer. This is great because having look up each song you want to preview is a pain.

    Filene’s Basement Bridal Gown/Dress Sale - Washington DC 8/3

wedding dresses, wedding dress, filenes basement, filene's

Still looking for a wedding dress?  If you’re in Washington DC, Filene’s Basement is having their annual bridal gown/dress blowout event this friday the 3rd. It’s a great event to get a gorgeous dress for a bargain of a price since all dresses are either $249,$499 or $699…That’s it! I’ve seen $7000 Vera Wangs for $249. I’m not saying that’s the norm, but you get the idea.

Doors open at 8am, I suggest getting there early.

For a sampling of the fun, here’s video footage from CBS in Baltimore from the Filenes Basement event earlier in the month http://wjz.com/video/?id=29458@wjz.dayport.com
